Vervangen Laptop Memory For Mac

Posted on by  admin

I'm planning to buy a new mid-2017 MacBook Pro 15' to replace my. The thing is I want the 2TB storage option, because I do YouTube, make. For these subsequent MacBook models -- Apple officially supports 4 GB of RAM, but, again, third-parties have found that these systems actually can support 6 GB of memory (using a mismatched 2 GB and 4 GB pair of memory modules).

Apple’s annual October hardware event wrapped late last month with the announcements of a new MacBook Air and a revamped Mac mini. Both computers, like the newest MacBook Pro and last year’s iMac Pro, come equipped with Apple’s security-focused T2 chip. The T2 chip, which acts as a co-processor, is the secret to many of Apple’s newest and most advanced features. However, its introduction into more computers and the likelihood that it becomes commonplace in every Mac going forward has renewed concerns that Apple is trying to further lock down its devices from third-party repair services. The T2 is “a guillotine that Apple is holding over” product owners, iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens told The Verge over email.

That’s because it’s the key to locking down Mac products by only allowing select replacement parts into the machine when they’ve come from an authorized source — a process that the T2 chip. “It’s very possible the goal is to exert more control over who can perform repairs by limiting access to parts,” Wiens said. “This could be an attempt to grab more market share from the independent repair providers. Or it could be a threat to keep their authorized network in line.

We just don’t know.”. The T2 chip could render Macs inoperable if not fixed by Apple or its repair network Apple confirmed to The Verge that this is the case for repairs involving certain components on newer Macs, like the logic board and Touch ID sensor, which is the first time the company has publicly acknowledged the new repair requirements for T2-equipped Macs. But Apple could not provide a list of repairs that required this or what devices were affected. It also couldn’t say whether it began this protocol with the iMac Pro’s introduction last year or if it’s a new policy instituted recently.

The T2 is a custom-designed component that performs, among other tasks, processing for Touch ID fingerprint data. It also stores the cryptographic keys necessary to securely boot the machines it runs on. Apple says the chip is critical to new features, too, such as enabling the MacBook Pro to respond to “Hey Siri” requests without requiring you to press a button. It also prevents its laptop microphones when the lid of the device is closed. Effectively, the T2 chip is capable of communicating with other components in order to perform some of the most important and sophisticated tasks modern Macs are capable of. But recent revelations about the T2 have Apple critics concerned that it could be used to further shut out DIY enthusiasts and third-party repair services.

First revealed last month by and, both of which got their hands on an internal Apple document, the T2 chip could render a computer inoperable if, say, the logic board is replaced, unless the chip recognizes a special piece of diagnostic software has been run. That means if you wanted to repair certain key parts of your MacBook, iMac, or Mac mini, you would need to go to an official Apple Store or a repair shop that’s part of the company’s Authorized Service Provider (ASP) network. If you want to repair or rebuild portions of those devices on your own, you simply can’t — at least, according to this document.

Photo: iFixit The parts affected, according to the document, are the display assembly, logic board, top case, and Touch ID board for the MacBook Pro, and the logic board and flash storage on the iMac Pro. It is also likely that logic board repairs on the new MacBook Air and Mac mini are affected, as well as the Mac mini’s flash storage. Yet, the document, which is believed to have been distributed earlier this year, does not mention those products because they were unannounced at the time. Regardless, to replace those parts, a technician would need to run what’s known as the AST 2 System Configuration suite, which Apple only distributes to Apple Stores and certified ASPs. So DIY shops and those out of the Apple network would be out of luck.

As the document puts it: For Macs with the Apple T2 chip, the repair process is not complete for certain parts replacements until the AST 2 System Configuration suite has been run. Failure to perform this step will result in an inoperative system and an incomplete repair. But complicating matters, it was unclear if this “kill switch” was active as of last month.

The teardown experts at iFixit, who are also staunch right-to-repair advocates, bought a new 2018 MacBook Pro and discovered that they could still replace its display with one from a unit they bought over the summer. “To our surprise, the displays and MacBooks functioned normally in every combination we tried. We also updated to Mojave and swapped logic boards with the same results,” iFixit’s Adam O’Comb.

Apple confirmed to The Verge that the display assembly should not require the diagnostic tool, but it is unclear why iFixit was able to swap logic boards and still boot the machines. One possible explanation is that iFixit used components already validated by Apple, and the diagnostic tool may only be required for brand-new, unused components. IFixit was able to repair a 2018 MacBook Pro display without the diagnostic tool iFixit speculates that the software could be a mechanism for checking that third-party repair shops are using the correct components and not overcharging customers and using cheaper parts to make money on the side. It could also be for calibration purposes. But O’Comb says that Apple may want to have more end-to-end control over how Mac computers are repaired, what parts are used, and how much those repairs cost the customer. Making all of this function is the T2 chip, a now-integral part of the Mac hardware and software ecosystem that Apple says enables all sorts of critical security functions. In that sense, running the software diagnostic suite on T2-equipped devices could simply be a way to ensure that all of the security-focused features enabled by the chip remain intact after repairs of, say, the logic board on the iMac Pro or the Touch ID board on the MacBook Pro.

It’s certainly reasonable, but Apple’s lack of clarity on when, why, and to what extent it instituted the diagnostic tool requirement has led to confusion and concern. Apple says that a vast majority of repairs can be conducted without needing the tool, and it’s certainly true that most Mac owners will never be in the position of needing to replace a logic board or Touch ID sensor on their own. Both components are parts Apple says only it distributes, while solid state drives on most modern Macs, like the new Mac mini, are not user replaceable because they are soldered either to other components or the housing unit. So while Apple may not have initiated this protocol for all T2-equipped devices or simply doesn’t require it on used parts, as iFixit’s demonstrations made clear, the company’s confirmation that it nonetheless requires some form of proprietary software may add more fuel to the long-simmering repairability debate. Critics, with iFixit among the most vocal, have knocked Apple in the past for how its environmental and reusability pledges square with the reality of its repair practices and the longevity of its devices. Onstage at its event, Apple touted the new MacBook Air and Mac mini as the.

It was also reported that Apple is to include a “vintage” option for older devices, like the iPhone 4S and 2012 MacBook Pro, that have since been removed from repair eligibility. Additionally, Apple appears to have and allowed 2018 Mac mini owners to, a change from the 2014 model. Yet Apple devices remain among the hardest in the industry to repair due to custom screws, unibody enclosures, and manufacturing decisions that make removing certain components needlessly difficult.

The end result is that a vast majority of iPhone and Mac owners are reliant on Apple or members of its trusted repair network to get devices fixed or to reuse old ones. That’s an issue if you don’t live near an Apple Store or one of its authorized providers, but it’s also an issue because Apple-provided repairs tend to be more expensive than third-party ones, and a lack of any meaningful competition may lead to higher prices down the road. The company is also opposed to that would mandate it make instructions and tools available to DIY hobbyists and out-of-network third-party repair shops. Inevitably, because of this attitude, Apple owners may be more likely to simply buy a new device instead of repairing a current one or refurbishing an old one, something environmental advocates fear could complicating efforts to reduce e-waste. Apple can only reuse so much of a device, with the rest being recycled, but it still must source a finite amount of minerals and other key elements that end up going into the production of phones and computers.

And the technology industry, of which Apple is just the most visible player and certainly not the biggest or only offender, has been accelerating its production of new devices over the last decade. A Mac owner is more likely to repair a device than replace it, but those repairs may become more cumbersome Of course, the than that of Macs.

Customers tend to replace phones more often than computers, and there are a number of incentives — like Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program and the fact that — that encourage the more frequent buying of new phones. A MacBook Pro owner is much more likely to get their laptop repaired, even if it requires shipping it off to Apple for two weeks, then they are to toss out the computer and buy a new one. Still, with the existence of the T2 diagnostic requirement, Macs could soon become even harder to repair than they already are, and iFixit’s Wiens says that, whatever the motivator, requiring you only go through Apple’s network could have negative consequences for all parties involved. “It would be a very dangerous precedent, and might bring things into legal jeopardy,” he said. Wiens made note of how, which bricked iPhones using third-party components, forced Apple to. The Australian government when Apple Store employees informed users that their bricked phones were pretty much unrecoverable. Similarly, last year’s battery slowdown fiasco, in which it was revealed Apple throttled older iPhones to prevent accidental shutdowns, led to.

“If they do this, it will dramatically increase the likelihood that right to repair legislation passes and forces them to reverse course,” Wiens said, referring to Apple requiring the diagnostic tool on all future logic board and Touch ID replacements. “Locking down repairs is bad for consumers, bad for the environment, and bad for Apple.”.

Mac OS X apps such as Safari, Mail, iCal, Address Book and more as well as Photos, iMovie, iTunes, Aperture and Final Cut Pro have already been optimized. Design Incredibly Powerful It may be thin and light, but this MacBook Pro is also incredibly powerful. To achieve all that in a single design required relentless focus and a willingness to make bold decisions. Bulky legacy technologies like the spinning hard drive and optical disc drive were left behind in favor of higher-performance technologies - all-flash storage, for example. It's much faster and far more reliable than a traditional hard drive.

And it takes up 90 percent less space. A Display of Excellence The Retina display is a breakthrough - any way you look at it. Apple pushed the limits of technology to create a pixel density so high, you can see everything you're doing with perfect clarity and make edits with pinpoint accuracy. Not only is it the highest-resolution display ever on a notebook, it has a more integrated design that achieves a level of fit and finish never before possible. This Retina display doesn't sit behind a layer of glass, it is the glass.

Which means you get all the benefits of a state-of-the-art display - vibrant colors, high contrast, and wide viewing angles - with very little glare. So there's more to see, and even less to distract you from your work. Precisely Engineered This MacBook Pro features high-efficiency fans. The asymmetrically spaced impeller blades with back and side airflow vents work together to move the maximum amount of air while reducing tonal impact.

GarageBand Whether you're musically gifted or mostly curious, GarageBand is the application for you. Plug in your electric guitar or USB music keyboard and get ready to rock with virtual replicas of the most revered amps and stompboxes in the world, as well as over 100 software instruments. Just because you didn't grow up learning your A, B, and C sharp doesn't mean you can't. Basic Lessons teach you just that: the basics.

Choose from 40 lessons that cover blues guitar, rock guitar, classical piano, pop piano, and more. Or get a private lesson from one of your musical heroes, like Sting or Death Cab for Cutie, with Artist Lessons.

GarageBand even tells you how well you're playing in real time with a feature called 'How Did I Play?' IBooks Now you can launch the iBooks app on your Mac and the books you've already downloaded on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch will automatically appear in your library. And there are over 2 million more books in the iBooks Store, ready for you to download with just a few clicks. Reading books is intuitive and easy - turn pages with a swipe and zoom in on images with a pinch. If you're a student hitting the books, keep as many open as you like and search through them with ease.

And when you take notes, highlight passages or add a bookmark on your Mac, iCloud pushes them to all your devices automatically. ICloud even remembers which page you're on. So if you start reading on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, you can pick up right where you left off on your Mac. Maps You can look up directions on your Mac and send them right to your iPhone for voice navigation on the way. In addition, your bookmarks and recent searches are automatically pushed to all your iOS devices, so you can plan trips on your Mac and have all the locations easily at hand when you're on the road. Of course, you can get information on local points of interest like restaurants and hotels, with phone numbers, photos, and even Yelp reviews.

Vervangen Laptop Memory For Mac

Because it's a native app, you can use every pixel of your display to explore new destinations. Maps also takes full advantage of the graphics power of your Mac. So zooming is smooth and responsive and you get gorgeous views such as Flyover, a photo-realistic, interactive 3D experience that lets you soar high above select cities.

ICloud Keychain Remembering your passwords can be a real pain, but now iCloud Keychain remembers them for you. It stores your website user names and passwords on the Mac and iOS devices you've approved, protects them with robust 256-bit AES encryption and keeps them up to date on each device. And it automatically fills them in whenever you need them. It also works with credit card information, so checking out is quick yet secure. Multiple Displays OS X takes full advantage of every display connected to your Mac, giving you even more flexibility to work the way you want. There's no longer a primary or secondary display - now each has its own menu bar, and the Dock is available on whichever screen you're working on. You can run a full-screen app on one display and have multiple windows on another display, or run a full‑screen app independently on each display.

You can even turn your HDTV into a fully functional second display using AirPlay and Apple TV. Finder Tabs Finder Tabs help you declutter your desktop by consolidating multiple Finder windows into one. For example, you could keep a tab for All My Files, one for Homework, and one for AirDrop, all in a single Finder window. Each tab can have its own view - icon, list, column, or Cover Flow.

To move a file from tab to tab, just drag and drop. And you can even expand a Finder window to full screen and move files wherever you want with ease. Tags Tags are an intuitive way to organize and find your files, even documents stored in iCloud. Simply tag the files you want to organize together with a keyword, like 'Important.' Then when you want to find those files, just click Important in the Finder sidebar or enter it in the search field. And all the files with that tag will appear together in one Finder window, even if they're stored in different locations. Tag a file once, or give it multiple tags to assign it to multiple projects.

So if you're planning an event, you could tag the guest list you saved in Numbers, the flyer you designed in Pages, and the presentation you created in Keynote - and see them all with just one click. Mac App Store Just like shopping the App Store on an iPad, the Mac App Store offers endless possibilities to browse and purchase apps. New apps install in one step right to Launchpad. And the Mac App Store lets you know when app updates are available, so you always have the latest version. Safari Designed with the Mac in mind, Safari emphasizes browsing, not the browser. In full-screen view, the browser frame is only a pixel wide, and you can hide almost the entire interface if you choose.

So there's nothing to distract you from an article, video, or photo album. Navigating web pages is easy with trackpad gestures; flip through web pages with a swipe, and double tap or pinch the trackpad to zoom in on text or images.

Safari also features Reader, which lets you peruse articles sans annoying ads. Don't have time to finish what you've started? Reading List lets you save links to articles and other web pages for later, and iCloud keeps your Reading List up to date across all your devices.

Since pages render fast in Safari, you won't miss a minute of the web. Mail Mail makes it easy to manage all your email from a single, ad-free inbox. It features powerful search capabilities, with search suggestions and tokens built in. It works with the free me.com email account you get when you sign up for iCloud, as well as most email standards - including POP3 and IMAP - and popular email services such as Gmail, Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, Cox, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL Mail.

Mail supports Microsoft Exchange 2010, too. If you have more than one email account, no problem. Add your accounts to Mail and you'll be able to access all your email from one place. And Mail looks as great as it works.

It makes full use of your display with a gorgeous widescreen view featuring a full-height message and a message list that includes snippets. With Conversations, messages from the same thread appear in an elegant timeline showing each communication as it was sent while hiding redundant text.

Calendar Keep track of your busy schedule and share it with others using Calendar. Create separate calendars - one for home, another for school, a third for work, and so on. See all your calendars in a single window or choose to see only the calendars you want. Calendar lets you create invitations using information from Contacts, update your guest list, keep track of responses, and receive the latest status information. When you or another Mac user receives a Calendar invitation via Mail, it's automatically added. Calendar also works with iCloud, Yahoo!, and Google. And when you use iCloud, every Calendar edit you make on your Mac automatically appears on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

So no dinner dates are missed, no meeting goes unattended, and no anniversary is forgotten. Contacts Contacts is a flexible and convenient place to store information for everyone you know. It's easy to import names, numbers, addresses, and photos from other applications. And it's designed for Facebook, too. Contacts automatically includes your friends' profile photos and information.

And when friends update their information, Contacts updates your Mac. You can create smart groups for clubs, activities, and business purposes; print address labels and envelopes; and more.

ICloud updates your contacts on your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Mac - so when you enter someone's contact info once, you have it everywhere. And since Contacts is built on vCard, an industry standard for storing contact information, your friends can send you cards that you can add simply by dropping them into your contacts list - no typing required. Time Machine Time Machine works with your Mac and an external hard drive (sold separately) or Time Capsule. Connect the drive, assign it to Time Machine, and start enjoying some peace of mind. Time Machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, including system files, applications, accounts, preferences, music, photos, movies, and documents.

But what makes Time Machine different from other backup applications is that it not only keeps a spare copy of every file, it remembers how your system looked on any given day - so you can revisit your Mac as it appeared in the past. FaceTime FaceTime for Mac makes it possible to talk, smile, and laugh with anyone on an iPad, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPod touch, or another Mac from your Mac. And when someone tries to reach you, the call rings through on every Mac you own, even if FaceTime isn't running. So you never have to worry about making yourself available. If you don't want to receive calls, just turn FaceTime off in preferences.

FaceTime is integrated with your Address Book so you can initiate chats easily. Photo Booth Take photo snapshots and video clips with your Mac using Photo Booth.

Send them to your friends, use one as an iChat icon, add them to your Address Book, or organize and edit them in Photos. The real fun starts when you use the effects and backdrops in Photo Booth.

Choose from nine effects that use facial tracking technology so effects look great whether you're front and center - or left of center. Snap single photos or shoot multiples in a four-photo burst. You can even shoot video clips, complete with effects, then trim them right in Photo Booth and send them to friends and family.

And since Photo Booth can be viewed full screen, you'll enjoy every detail down to the last pixel. Rated 5 out of 5 by Sreekanth Rajan from Awesome price and delivery I was searching for a MBP for quite long time.

I looked all possible shopping sites for it but couldn't find anyone offering a good deal on it. Finally I found it here with zero tax. I was little skeptical to order it as the delivery date is just before my flight for vacation. I talked to an agent and he promised me that it will reach on time and before my vacation. To my surprise it came 1 day before.I opened the box and was surprised to see that the OS is almost up to date. Following are my rating 1. Shipping - 5 2.

Packing - 5 (No extra packing it is as required) 4. Customer support - 5 5.

Delivery - 5. Rated 5 out of 5 by Saul M. From As I read it was! I wanted to replace my lovely old but still strong MacBooPro 15 Mid 2009 because many new applications reject work with it and the OS X El Capitan was the last system it accepted. I checked the list of Macs in BH and I found this beautiful and modern machine with Retina display and with a low price!!! I use it especially for editing videos in Final Cut Pro X; it is faster than my old 2009 and the images in its display are almost natural; I have installed many other applications that I needed for work and I am totally satisfied! Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from I was sold on Apple.

Now I'm sold on B&H Photo. First time ordering from B&H so I had my doubts ordering from a company across the country in New York. They had a great sale price and free shipping with no sales tax to boot. I looked online for reviews of B&H and from all accounts people were happy with them. So How could I not give them a shot? I can now say with confidence they're great.

I got this laptop shipped with tracking and it arrived on time and intact. I've been using Macs for over 10 years now. I can now say with confidence that this 2015 Retina Macbook Pro 15.4 is fantastic. Clean, fast, and easy to use. I got a great product from an awesome company at a crazy good price. From Macbook Pro was our only choice. We use this computer to edit raw images in Photoshop and Lightroom. Ours has only 256GB of SSD storage so we do a lot with external disks.

It runs like a champ and the display is crisp and bright, as befits a brand new expensive laptop. Happily, it has the SD memory card slot which was actually missing from the 17 inch MacBook Pro that it replaced. I will probably upgrade the SSD at some point as prices drop further. We paid a bit less for this computer in 2017 as it has been replaced with the newer version with the fancy multifunction keys on top. Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Amazing Computer, Fast Shipping, Even Better Deal I have forever been a PC user, so I have been skeptical about switching to a mac.

But it was the best move I've ever mad. It is very user friendly, beautiful retina display. The speed is incredible, and it's a sleek lightweight computer even if it is one of the larger MacBook models. I am so so so incredibly happy with this purchase. And with the black friday deal I saved about $300. The shipping was super fast and there was no tax. If you need a new computer, buy from this site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great buy and great service/shipping Came across this 2015 MBP pretty much spec'd out so I had to go with it. For me, no taxes, plus it being the cheapest laptop price around - in particular for being a new one (I was looking for a used one almost the same price that was a 2014) - so this became an early Christmas present to myself.

So far, have had the machine for a week and I have been really impressed. As for B & H Photo - great service - they were quick to send it - free shipping by the way:-) and when I got that package - it was really packed great. They kept it stabilized within the box so it didn't move very much and the were just great. I would definitely buy from there again. Rated 5 out of 5 by Luciano from Exceeded expectations in most of features Never used a mac before and as a beginner I'm still getting used to work with it, however I can surely say that the transition from Windows to MacOS was pretty easy. If some use Linux (Ubuntu at least) that new thing would be even easier.

Performance is really pretty good and the equipment is very well constructed. The retina screen is really incredible and comfortable. Although I gave it 5 stars, there are few things I didn't like.

I didn't like much the force touch pad. It's still strange to me to not have buttons to push! On this model, there are only 2 USB ports. Maybe I'm lucky because those new ones have none!:).
